World War II

World War II was the global conflict that officially began on 1939-09-03 when Great Britain and France declared war on Germany, killed over fifty-five million people, and turned at the Battle of Stalingrad, with its outbreak later linked by Fatima commentators to the 1917 Marian apparitions and by researchers to postwar Allied retrieval of German wartime technology and personnel.

In March 1938, Germany annexed the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia, effectively beginning World War II.¹ German troops had already crossed into Austria on 1938-03-12, bringing the country back into the Reich for the first time since the end of World War I.² Hitler’s failure to heed an ultimatum led Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany on 1939-09-03, the Britain and France declaration of war on Germany that officially opened the Second World War.³ The war cost over fifty-five million lives.⁴ The Battle of Stalingrad, which began on 1942-12-08, the day Pope Pius XII repeated the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, ended the German advance into the east and is regarded as the war’s turning point.⁵

The Second Secret of Fatima, delivered during the Fatima apparitions at Cova da Iria in Portugal, stated that the First World War would end, but that if people did not stop offending God, another, more terrible war would begin during the reign of Pius XI.⁶ It also warned of a night illuminated by an unknown light as a sign that God would punish the world through war, hunger, and persecution of the Church.⁷ The Third Secret of Fatima is described as including revelations about a catalogue of twentieth-century disasters: communist revolutions, the Spanish Civil War, Nazi terror, World War II, the Cold War, the arms race, the nuclear threat, and the spread of Communism-linked atheism.⁸ Marian apparitions since Guadalupe are described as having grown more frequent and as apparently sending a sign warning of the imminent outbreak of World War II.⁹ According to The Fatima Secret, it has also been argued that the Second Secret’s specific reference to the end of World War I could have been added after the fact, since the secret was not made public until long after the war had ended.¹⁰ In 1941, Lúcia wrote down the first two parts of the Fatima secret, which related to the end of World War I, the rise of Russia, and the outbreak of World War II.¹¹

Michael Hesemann has said that although World War I had only just ended when Jacinta Marto spoke of a coming war, meaning her mother could not have known what she meant, the Second World War was indeed on the horizon.¹² He considers Jacinta’s prediction of a punishment beginning in Spain to have foretold the Spanish Civil War, which began in 1936 and preceded World War II.¹³ He also interprets her mention of terrible events around 1940 as a reference to the Second World War.¹⁴ Hesemann regards the 1917 apparitions as having included predictions of the Russian Revolution, the spread of Communism, and World War II, which he considers beyond the imaginations of three young, uneducated children.¹⁵ He considers the Madonna to have correctly predicted the beginning of the Second World War, with the blood-red aurora of the 1938 aurora event as its herald.¹⁶ Hesemann further considers that the decisive turning points of World War II, and later Mikhail Gorbachev’s perestroika, followed immediately after the Act of Consecration of Russia and the World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary demanded in the Fatima visions.¹⁷ According to The Fatima Secret, World War II began under the rule of Pius XI exactly as prophesied at Fatima.¹⁸

According to Jesse Michels, the United States was, at the war’s end, less interested in reaching Berlin than Pilsen, where Nazi Germany’s secret weapons programme was housed.¹⁹ George S. Patton’s army did indeed advance to Pilsen before going on to Berlin.²⁰ Nearly a year before the war ended, the Nazis had planned to leave Europe and take their sensitive material with them.²¹ Viktor Schauberger, an Austrian forester who developed a reverse impeller, had material recovered by the United States at the war’s end.²² Jason Samosa has suggested that, alongside the division of German technology between the Soviets and the United States, a third element may have existed: a mass evacuation of technology, personnel, gold, and money beginning around 1943 and certainly by 1944, coinciding with the Maison Rouge meeting.²³

Before the war, IG Farben and Standard Oil are said to have agreed mutual monopolies, with Standard Oil dominating oil on both sides of the Atlantic and IG Farben the petrochemical side.²⁴ When the United Kingdom needed engines for its fighter aircraft, Ford Motor Company refused, stating it was prioritising production for Nazi Germany.²⁵ Allen Dulles helped with Nazi financing while based in Switzerland during the war.²⁶ Ricardo Sicre was a Spanish spy during the war employed by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS).²⁷ Samosa considers that the financiers and industrialists commercially entangled with German industry before and during the war were the same people running the intelligence networks that would later enable the evacuation of that technology.²⁸ He has also connected the administrations preceding Bill Clinton’s to a broader establishment tracing back to the OSS in World War II.²⁹

Thomas Townsend Brown carried out a technology retrieval mission behind enemy lines during the war.³⁰ Michels has said he previously suspected a conflation between an anti-gravity propulsion lineage possibly created in Nazi Germany, or during the war more broadly, and reports of UFOs.³¹ Samosa finds a middle-ground position more interesting than an either/or view of Nazi disc technology: that Germany was experimenting with building such craft, and that some may have been half-successful by the war’s end, a possibility he frames in terms of crash retrieval and reverse engineering.³² In an apocryphal account recounted by Michels, John Warner IV said that, over a third martini, Paul Mellon told him that he and Dulles had been on a technology retrieval operation in Nazi Germany around 1944 or 1945, standing atop a large saucer-like UFO in Czechoslovakia.³³ According to Samosa, in Messengers of Deception an anonymous source identified only as Major Murphy suggested to Jacques Vallee that people may have created flying saucers during the war, pointing to 1943, and that the technology’s real advantage lay not in flight but in a psychotronic effect.³⁴ Robert Maxwell interrogated Nazi scientists after the war, according to Jesse Michels.³⁵ Samosa characterises the Holocaust as an attempt to exterminate a specific lineage of people and their DNA from the planet.³⁶
