Aerospace safety, pilot reporting, government transparency on UAP · Ryan Graves

Americans for Safe Aerospace (ASA) is a nonprofit organisation founded by Ryan Graves, a former US Navy pilot, which advocates for aerospace safety and national security.1 Graves also serves as its Executive Director.23 The organisation supports military and civilian pilots and others in the aerospace industry who report Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), and campaigns for greater disclosure from public officials on the subject.4

By the time of the House Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (2023-07-26), Graves said more than thirty witnesses had come forward to ASA and that almost 5,000 Americans had joined the organisation’s push for transparency.5 According to the hearing record, Graves testified at that session in his capacity as ASA’s Executive Director.6 Graves stated that the majority of witnesses approaching ASA are commercial pilots at major airlines, often veterans with decades of flying experience.7

Graves told the hearing that commercial pilots have reached out to him through ASA because they feel they have no other way to report UAP-related safety issues.8 He said he considers the most compelling accounts brought to the organisation to be those involving observations by multiple witnesses and sensor systems.9

Graves also relayed, at the same hearing, an account from a witness who had approached him at ASA describing the 2003 Vandenberg Air Force Base Unidentified Aerial Phenomena / Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) incident, in which objects were said to have approached security guards at rapid speeds before darting off.10
