During the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962-10), Secretary-General U Thant told the heads of state in Washington, Havana (Cuba) and Moscow that he would help mediate the dispute, doing so at the request of forty-five other UN member nations.1 The following year, at the 1963-09-20 Kennedy United Nations General Assembly speech, John Fitzgerald Kennedy issued a public invitation to the Soviets offering a cooperative joint United States/USSR lunar expedition.2
A number of scientists and people formerly associated with UFO programmes appeared several times before the UN Secretary-General, first U Thant and then Kurt Waldheim, to try to bring UFO information into the open.3 The United States, Britain and France objected strenuously to bringing UFO information before the UN, arguing it would breach their national security.4 According to Raymond E. Fowler, Gordon Cooper testified before the UN about some of what he knew regarding UFOs, and stated that if the UN sponsored an open scientific study apart from military studies, he knew of other astronauts and NASA personnel willing to testify if they could do so without penalty.5 The proposal for the UN to sponsor an open scientific study of UFOs was turned down.6 On 1967-06-07, James E. McDonald spoke to the Outer Space Affairs Group about the UFO problem and submitted formal statements, later documented as the James E. McDonald statement to the United Nations Outer Space Affairs Group, 1967-06-07, urging UN action on it.7 McDonald said he hoped UN scientific groups would take up the problem, given the Australian evidence added to the American evidence and other clearly attested evidence.8 He also said that U Thant, in a statement to Drew Pearson shortly before 1967, described the UFO problem as the greatest international problem second only to the Vietnam War.9
In 1992, at the 1992 Hoagland presentation at United Nations, Richard C. Hoagland presented the Face on Mars, showing its hominid and feline halves as folded-over symmetries derived from 1976 Viking Cydonia data.10 Hoagland said he had speculated as far back as that presentation that the eastern half of the face had a feline aspect.11 He also presented at the UN in 1992 the same characterisation of the Face on Mars that he considers the 2007 Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter image to have since confirmed.12 At the same event, Hoagland said that Jupiter’s Great Red Spot — a vortex located for over 300 years at 19.5 degrees south latitude — was the classic signature of hyperdimensional physics theory operating within the planet, arising from the circumscribed tetrahedral geometry of the twenty-seven line problem.13 He also said that maximum sunspot numbers rise, fall and change latitude during the twenty-two-year solar cycle, peaking every half-cycle of around eleven years at a solar latitude of about 19.5 degrees.14 According to Dark Mission, an anonymous industrialist told Hoagland that high-powered military officers involved in Pentagon procurement, who would later lay the groundwork for the US Navy’s Clementine lunar probe, routinely gathered in his conference room to watch Hoagland’s NASA-Cydonia Briefing video from the UN presentations.15 The same source states that during the autumn of 1992, the industrialist would call Hoagland unannounced from his conference room in the company of visiting colonels or generals from Washington DC while they watched the NASA-Cydonia and UN video presentations, so the visitors could ask questions about the Cydonia investigation.16
In a 1979 address to the UN Special Political Committee, later recorded as Jacques Vallee’s 1979 address to the United Nations (UN) Special Political Committee, Jacques Vallée argued that belief in space visitors is independent of the physical reality of the UFO phenomenon.17
According to the documentary Aliens and Albert Einstein - The Secret Document (DEBRIEFED ep. 33), The Relationships with Inhabitants of Celestial Bodies (1947 document) proposes that colonisation of Earth by celestial peoples could take the form of a tutelage, possibly through the tacit approval of the UN.18 It states that although the UN is an international organisation, it would have no right of tutelage over relationships between a member nation and a celestial body, since its domain does not extend beyond relationships between its own members.19 It would only have the right to intervene if a member nation’s relationship with a celestial body and its extraterrestrial people entailed a conflict with another member nation.20 Were the UN a supranational organisation, it would have competency to deal with all problems related to extraterrestrial peoples, if its member states were willing to recognise that competence.21 The document also proposes internationalising celestial peoples by creating an international treaty instrument preventing exploitation, applicable to all nations belonging to the UN.22
The Predator unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was used to support UN and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) efforts in Bosnia and was widely used in counterterrorism operations, per a Pentagon report on the historical record of US government involvement with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).23 Separately, Michael Horn said that a woman who as a young girl was at an ashram in India in 1964, whose uncle was the head monk there, later became Cambodia’s ambassador or representative to the UN for a dozen years before retiring.24 Horn also said that the Henoch Prophecies foretold that Switzerland would abandon its neutrality and align itself with the UN and/or NATO, opening it to attack and invasion by powers from the East, meaning China and Russia.25
