Fravor said that Musk’s SpaceX delivered a project that had originally been contracted to Boeing, completing it in less time and for half the cost.1 Fravor also related an account of a SpaceX rocket test launched from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, in which a fuel line rupture caused the rocket to run out of fuel before reaching full altitude and fall back down near the atoll.2 Fravor said that Musk was unhappy about the failed test and blamed the engineer responsible.3
Fravor also passed on hearsay from a friend who had done government contract work and worked with SpaceX. According to Fravor, this friend said Musk owns a property of approximately 160 hectares near Texas Waco.4 The same friend reportedly told Fravor that SpaceX bought out a tool-and-die machine shop supplying high-precision rocket parts after its owner was close to going out of business, with the deal completed within an hour or two of meeting Musk.5
In a separate context, Erik Nanstiel said that mapping a set of caverns in Illinois would require funding from someone like Musk, who could write a cheque for the work without missing the money.6 This remark was offered as an illustration of the scale of funding required rather than a claim about any involvement by Musk, and no further connection between him and the topic of deep underground military bases is recorded in the available material.
