Tim Burchett is a US representative for Tennessee. Before entering Congress, he was a born-again Christian who owned a trailer repair shop.1 His congressional district lay near USA, Tennessee, Oak Ridge, home to the nation’s uranium stockpile, a former World War II Manhattan Project “Secret City”, and the site of numerous UAP sightings.2
Burchett was among the representatives present at the House Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (2023-07-26). According to the hearing record, Anna Paulina Luna, Eric Burlison, Matt Gaetz, James Comer, Andrew Ogles, Nick Langworthy, Jamie Raskin, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were also present alongside him.3 Glenn Grothman waived Burchett, Luna, Gaetz, Burlison, Ocasio-Cortez, and Ogles onto the subcommittee for the purpose of participating in the hearing,4 and later thanked Burchett and Luna for bringing the topic of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) to the attention of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.5 During the proceedings, Burchett entered the Defense Intelligence Reference Document Advanced Space Propulsion Based on Vacuum (Spacetime Metric) Engineering into the hearing record as an unclassified public document.6 The committee was denied access to a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) for a confidential discussion during the hearing.7
Burchett, Gaetz, Luna, and Burlison visited USA, Florida, Eglin Air Force Base to try to get answers on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).8 The trip followed Gaetz seeking a briefing about the Eglin incident and bringing Burchett and Luna with him.9 Burchett said that without Gaetz’s involvement, he, Luna, and Burlison would still be at Eglin trying to get answers,10 and said that Gaetz has an excellent legal mind.11
Burchett proposed an amendment to the FAA reauthorization that would have required an airline pilot’s UAP sighting report made to the FAA to be forwarded to Congress.12 The amendment was not heard in committee, after he was told the intelligence community did not like it.13
Burchett’s father served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) 1st Marine Division,14 alongside Chesty Puller at the Battle of Peleliu.15 At the 2023 hearing, Burchett met a person who had travelled from Denmark to attend.16 He said some members of United States Congress had confided in him that they had had Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings of their own while wishing to remain anonymous.17 Luis Elizondo said Burchett was particularly alarmed by the connection between UAP and US nuclear capabilities.18 Phil McGraw has said he discussed the UAP subject with Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, Burchett, and Luna.19
