"Skinny Bob is Real" – Lifelong Abductee Reveals Everything - Erik Nanstiel | DEBRIEFED ep. 85

Episode 85 of the DEBRIEFED podcast, published 2026-04-24 and hosted by Chris Ramsay, features a lengthy interview with Erik Nanstiel, a Chicago-area author and self-described lifelong abductee. Chris Ramsay frames the episode around his view that experiencers are the only reliable source for understanding extraterrestrial culture and technology — ahead of whistleblowers or forward-looking infrared (FLIR) footage.³¹ Erik Nanstiel describes encounters spanning from infancy to 2024, presents detailed physical descriptions of Greys (extraterrestrial beings), and advances theories connecting the alien abduction phenomenon to ancient history, underground bases, and an alien-human hybridisation programme.

Nanstiel states his experiences began around April or May 1970, when he was approximately 15 to 16 months old, with white plasma orbs entering his bedroom nearly monthly for four years³ — bright white, roughly softball-sized, usually arriving through the closet.⁴ The orbs ceased in late 1974.⁵ His mother’s parallel experiences had begun earlier, in 1953, when she was living in USA, Pennsylvania, Turtle Creek, a suburb outside USA, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh.⁶ On the same night her brothers observed a circular UFO over the valley, she descended her basement stairs in the early hours, encountered two large growling German Shepherds, lost consciousness, and woke in her room unharmed — her family owned no such dogs.⁷ Nanstiel interprets this as a screen memory.⁸ In 1974, Nanstiel was admitted to Lutheran General Hospital in USA, Illinois, Park Ridge following a concussion;⁹ the night before his discharge a white orb entered his hospital room and rendered him unconscious.¹⁰ About one week later, his hospitalised roommate’s mother telephoned to report the boy’s infected abscess had vanished without surgery.¹¹ Nanstiel connected these childhood orb events to his later abductions only after watching cast members of Ancient Aliens (television series) discuss orbs at an AlienCon.¹²

The first encounter in which Nanstiel directly observed Greys (extraterrestrial beings) occurred on 1994-08-20 in USA, Illinois, Wheeling, constituting the Erik Nanstiel 1994 grey encounter.¹³ Coming out of a paralysed, lucid state at around 06:30, he turned to see four small creatures with ashen grey bulbous heads, large black eyes, and dark coveralls from neck to feet, which exited through his closed bedroom door.¹⁴ He identifies these beings as identical in appearance and movement to the figure depicted in the Skinny Bob footage (alleged Soviet alien video) — described in the episode as approximately three and a half feet (about 1.1 metres) tall — and asserts the original footage is authentic, though he notes someone added fake scratch marks to it.^15,16 Twenty-six years elapsed before the Erik Nanstiel 2020 garage grey encounter. Two weeks prior, Nanstiel had taped a handwritten poster above his headboard requesting that the beings allow him to remember their visit.¹⁷ He woke suspended off his garage floor in only boxer briefs, looking down at a small Grey in dark coveralls.¹ The being communicated in clear, accentless English in his mind, telling him it could not permit him to remember because its superiors would become aware.¹⁸ The Grey’s physical description — head approximately the size of a human head on a very slight body, wearing black coveralls — is consistent across both the 1994 and 2020 sightings.¹⁹ The week following, a taller Grey, approximately 1.7 metres tall, appeared face-to-face with Nanstiel in his bed;²⁰ after physical contact at the forehead it placed him in an imposed virtual environment resembling a Bavarian village like Germany, Bavaria, Nuremberg,²¹ where telepathy with the tall Grey confirmed, in response to Nanstiel’s direct questions, that it was from Zeta Reticuli and specifically from the fourth planet of that system.²²

The episode covers two further named encounters in detail. During the Erik Nanstiel 2022 arm surgery encounter, dated to around 2022-07, Nanstiel woke on a pewter-grey metal table to find his left arm severed cleanly above the elbow with no blood, the forearm and hand on a cart roughly 1.5 to 1.8 metres away with the humerus bone protruding.²⁷ He woke at home with the arm restored and no visible sutures or scarring, but the elbow froze immobile at a 90-degree angle for an entire month;²⁸ he later concluded, partly through ChatGPT analysis, that bone marrow had been extracted from the humerus. The Erik Nanstiel 2024 alcohol grey encounter in 2024-03 — his last remembered encounter — saw him woken in an uncharacteristically brightly lit white room surrounded by three tall Greys who communicated the instruction that he should not drink alcohol; in the weeks following, Nanstiel found he had lost all taste for it.²⁹ His encounter wave is described as running from 2020 to 2024, after which he does not expect the beings to return for approximately 18 years.³⁰

Nanstiel advances several theories about Grey biology, cosmology, and history throughout the interview. He distinguishes between short Greys — which he characterises as an engineered species functioning as worker drones, produced in the image of the tall Zeta natives within roughly the last couple of thousand years²⁵ — and the taller, older, thin-skinned natives of Zeta Reticuli. He connects the alien-human hybridisation programme to a broader extinction strategy: he believes the Greys are planning their own end by engineering a mostly-human successor species capable of living on the surface biosphere exposed to sunlight and pathogens.²⁶ He also associates the ancient astronaut theory with Grey activity, and links cattle mutilation research — citing the work of Linda Moulton Howe — to a proposed dietary dependency on blood. During a conscious encounter fragment of approximately 25 seconds he claims to have been told by a tall Grey that humanity must give up its nuclear weapons. He describes being shown a monochromatic 3D map displaying three caverns beneath eastern Illinois,²³ two parallel shafts approximately a third of a mile (about 0.5 kilometres) underground and one deeper cavern at close to half a mile (about 0.8 kilometres),²⁴ ranging from around Lake Michigan in the north to approximately USA, Illinois, Peoria in the south — a claim he acknowledges is testable and potentially falsifiable. He also discusses the alleged Eisenhower extraterrestrial treaty (alleged) and the Skinny Bob (alleged extraterrestrial being) footage, and mentions reporting his case to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and Illinois MUFON.³²

Nanstiel is the author of Angst in the Shadows (Erik Nanstiel book) and A Blood Covenant: The Alien Agenda Behind Civilization and Human Domestication (Erik Nanstiel book), both of which develop the themes discussed in the episode at greater length. He frames his public testimony as his primary means of reclaiming agency in the face of what he describes as total neurological control by the beings, and states that the act of writing was cathartic and produced a permanent record. He draws comparisons with accounts given by Whitley Strieber in Communion (Whitley Strieber book), references Betty and Barney Hill abduction case and Marjorie Fish’s star-map correlation to Zeta Reticuli, and mentions the Michael Herrera Indonesia black disc encounter as corroborating testimony from Michael Herrera concerning human involvement in anomalous aerial operations. Throughout, both Nanstiel and Ramsay maintain that the alien abduction phenomenon remains ongoing despite reduced public attention.
