Non-human intelligence (NHI) is a term used within Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) research to describe intelligent agency, of alleged extraterrestrial or otherwise unexplained origin, said to underlie a range of unexplained phenomena and historical claims. Jonathan Caplan has said he is in no doubt that a non-human intelligence is engaging with the planet.1 He has also said he considers there to be other forms of non-human intelligence beyond extraterrestrial life that are not understood.2 Ross Coulthart has said that people he has spoken to describe the alleged multiple non-human intelligences as not all being benevolent.3
Coulthart has said that the first newly found Majestic 12 document contains a claim that a non-human craft was forced to land at the White Sands Proving Ground.4 Caplan has said that as Douglas Caddy and E. Howard Hunt were parting on the sidewalk, with Hunt going off to prison, Caddy asked him why the John F. Kennedy assassination had happened, and Hunt replied that it was because he had been about to reveal the alien presence.5 Coulthart has said he considers it implied that David Lamar Christ was likewise aware of the alien presence, given Hunt’s remark to Caddy.6 According to “Horseshoe UAP Video Surfaces! - DEBRIEFED ep. 08”, when a reporter asked a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) general whether the object taken down over Alaska USA in early 2023 was extraterrestrial, the general replied that he was not ruling anything out.7
Coulthart has said that David Grush talked about agreements he was able to discuss under Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review (DOPSR) clearance, potentially involving foreign adversary powers or non-human intelligence regarding UAP.8 Coulthart has also said that Nat Kobitz told him that the United States has recovered multiple non-human craft.9
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977 film) explored the idea of human engagement, direct contact and possible agreements with non-human beings, including human astronauts boarding an alien spacecraft and travelling elsewhere.10 Coulthart has said that Steven Spielberg has a long and illustrious history of covering non-human intelligence in an intelligent and provocative way.11 He has also said he takes issue with Spielberg consistently portraying non-human beings as benevolent and never a threat.12
